Name: Kairo
Gender: Male
Age: 42 moons
Species: Tyto Alba
Kingdom: Pure Ones
Position: High Tyto
Codeword: (Revoked)
Description:
Kairos's description is one of a very powerful leader. He is a large barn owl, with strong legs and muscular wings. He is an albino barn owl, so his plummage is very light, like the color of eggshell. His brown feathers are a light tan color, and blend in quite nicely with his other feathers. His flight feathers are firm and well developed, but his under layer is downy and as pure white as snow. His wing tips and legs are a brownish shade of maroon, and miniscule specks of black dapple his back and wings. Kairo is tall but thin for a large barn owl, due to his diet. His eyes are a thick, oily black, and always watchful, concentrating on everything that happens in the world around him.
Kairo's ears are excellent, and he can hear simple breaths and heartbeats of creatures around him, meaning he is hard to sneak up on. His beak is a beautiful, rich, creamy marble color, and is very strong, so he is able to break small bones easily. He is a war torn owl, so he showcases many scars from previous battles, making him look sinister and frightening. A few noticeable scars are located in prominent locations, like his face, breast, and legs. One of these scars is located on his face, on his left eye going upward diagonally from left to right, and it is very noticeable. His right eye has a tiny scar across it, but the eye itself is completely missing, therefore he wears a leather eyepatch across it, and never removes it except for when it gets damaged or when sleeping. He has a scar across his chest over his heart that's hidden under his feathers. Occasionally it burns, and can cause him immense pain. He stand straight and tall, so he always seems to be looking down on other owls.
His talons are always clean, except when they are bloodied from battle, after which he cleans them as soon as possible. They are sharp from constant honing on an obsidian stone, which he does often. He isn't quite sure why he does this, but the scrape of the stone on his talons is comforting. His front-right talon is missing, for it was cut off in battle, and it can be difficult for him to grasp objects on that side. Becasuse of intense training as a young owl, his wings are strong, making him fast, and able to keep up with fast prey, and he is very silent, flying unheard. Due to his size, Kairo has a hard time making quick flight manuovers, and he isn't very agile. He has the ability to withstand hunger, ignoring the pain until it gets too severe that he has to eat, but he cannot fight thirst. He must be hydrated, or he will have severe migraines that can be disasterous. Kairo has strong enough immunities to deal with most common illnesses, but more rare problems are infectious torwards him.
Personality:
Kairo's personality is appropriate for a strong, responsible leader. He demands respect, and if someone disobeys him or disrespects him, he can be severe. He has a temper problem, getting angry at failed tasks and simple mistakes he gets frustrated over, and though he usually gets frustrated at others, he really takes the failure to heart and is angry with himself. Kairo shows little to no sign of emotion, and even his anger is masked by an extremely calm voice, which is deceptive to the anger within. The only time he lets his shield down is when spending time with his mate, Katara. With Katara, he is loving and tender, and lets his mask down. However, he has a hard time opening up even to her, and his self doubt is usually hidden. When she presses him for how he really is doing or what he's really thinking, he takes a while to share with her, but feels better after laying down some of his burden. Katara makes Kairo feel safe and secure, and he seeks affection from her. He feels stronger with her at his side, and loves her more than anything in the world.
Kairo has few friends, for he is not interested in making friends. He shows only small signs of friendliness towards some high ranking Pure ones. He cannot stand owlets and those of lesser ranks, and deals with them coldly and professionally with barely concealed contempt. He is very intelligent and can solve problems. He makes up intricate battle plans, much like his mate, and enjoys creating these intricate plans with her. He will not let any other owl, except for Katara, to think one up unless he is short on time, or the plan is too problematic to create, which is when he usually holds a meeting with other high ranking Pure Ones to discuss about it. He ignores insults with ease due to being raised harshly, and never curses except when his temper breaks out.
When Kairo is not being a leader, he enjoys exploring the land. Kairo travels to map out key locations for potential outposts and even explores just for the thrill of adventure, and likes to travel far from his home with the Pure Ones. Along with being adventurous he enjoys reading, and can be found reading in the library when not travelling or meeting with the Pure Ones officers. One of the reasons he likes reading is because he finds the information useful, and loves reading about past battles. Kairo is a very relaxed owl, again, when his temper doesn't break out, and enjoys relaxation. Kairo is easily stressed out by things, but only shows his stress with more bouts of temper than usual. He takes defeat hard, and blames himself.
Strenghts: Strong, Smart, Excellent Hearing, Good Fighter
Weaknesses: Easily Stressed, Harsh Temper, Battle Wounds (can cause him pain)
History:
Kairo's history is fairly predictable. Kairo was born under the previous High Tyto, and was albino despite his parents both being regular in feather color, but his parents were excited, due to his feather coloration symbolizing him to be very pure. During his owlet days he never saw his father because he was always away, advising the High Tyto. His mother cared for him for a short while, until she tasked a Grass owl with the job of raising him. Kairo bonded with the Grass owl, but always craved affection from his mother and wished for her to return.
When he grew old enough and began to fly, he got his wish for his mother to return. Stinge, the grass owl, continued to care for him, but his mother trained him to be a warrior. His mother gave him intense flight training and hunting training, but focused most of her time with him on fighting. Though she wasn't by any means the best fighter, Kairo's strength gave him an advantage and he trained hard. Soon after his mother had begun his training, Kairo's father took ill from some disease and was released from his advising duties. When Kairo neared the end of his training from his mother, Stinge disappeared, presumed to have fled to be spared from being the victim of Kairo's tupsi, and was proclaimed a traitor. However, Kairo still needed to preform his tupsi, and with no time left to befriend any owl, he needed to turn to a family member.
Kairo's father was the chosen one for the tupsi ceremony, and Kairo began to prepare to kill his father. He wasn't too upset about having to murder his father, as he had never spent time with him or had a chance to bond. The thought of killing Stinge upset Kairo far more, and secretly he was glad that his friend had escaped. His mother was heartbroken upon hearing whom Kairo was to murder, but knew that it was better to end her mate's suffering than allow him to be consumed by the disease. She passed away from grief days after her mate, and Kairo was alone in the world.
He was swept into the recruit pool, and advanced through his training with brutal strength and cunning. As he graduated training, the Great war had been raging for years, and all owls that the Pure Ones could muster were thrown into battle. In the final battle, a Guardian swiped downwards on his face, making him lose an eye and putting a scar across the remaining eye. He fled the battle field, and captured a battle medic. He held her captive in a hollow, and forced her to heal him. Over the course of the next year, he lived in the forest and healed, and the two gradually fell in love. He was going to return to the Pure Ones, and she told him she could not join him. In a fury, he slew her, and as his anger faded he realized what he had done. He held her body as she died, and her bloody cries haunt him to this day. He vowed never to love again, and set upon returning to the Pure Ones as a hardened, cold owl. A little while later, on his way back to the Pure Ones, in a skirmish with a band of Kraals his talon was cut off, which caused an intense infection which nearly claimed his life. He fought through, and after a few months he was as good as ever. He returned to the Pure Ones, and rejoined their ranks.
He quickly fought his way to the top of the command structure, with a mix of cunning and strength. He became a Legionnary, and was content with his position for the mean time. He plotted to take the rank of High Tyto, but before he had a chance the new High Tytoness came along. Her name was Katara, and during the dance of death between her and the old High Tyto, he became enraptured by her beauty, speed and skill. During the war campaign which he spent fighting by her side, his heart lost it's icy shield and he broke his vow never to love again. Her mysterious past enthralled him, and her personality made him love her. His love for her was stronger than it had ever been for the battle medic, who had been merely an infatuation, and he had never even learned the medic's name. Katara returned his feelings, and they became mates. After they emerged from the campaign against the kraals victorious, something that had never happened before occured. Instead of becoming just the High Tytoness's mate, he became the High Tyto beside her, and Katara and Kairo rule alongside one another as equals.
IC:
Kairo awoke in his home inside the castle walls, with his friend Stinge peering out of a opening in the wall. Kairo approached him and looked out, Stinge still staring into space. Kairo knew he knew something, but he didn't know what, whatever it was, it was bothering him. Kairo asked "What's bothering you, Stinge?", Stinge didn't answer and continued staring, until finally he said "I couldn't tell you Kairo, your mother would be angry, and, just, I can't tell, I can't even tell WHY I can't tell, it's just too difficult, Kai," Kairo's heart dropped, Stinge didn't call him Kai, which he usually called him unless something difficult was happening. Kairo nodded, but didn't understand, why couldn't he tell him? maybe it was something about his father being ill, unable to fly, or even stand, and is trapped in a pile of moss in a guarded room. Stinge closed his eyes and looked at Kairo, saying quietly "Kairo, it's about to be midday, you should go back to sleep," Kairo nodded and went to sleep.
Upon waking, the moon was rising and Stinge was nowhere to be found, so he flew to ask his mother. his mother suddenly got outraged "He is suppose to be with you! Why would he leave without permission? Kairo go to your hollow now, I am sending someone to look for Stinge," So Kairo returned, listening to his mother's upset ranting of 'He could ruin everything' and 'What will we do?'
Later in the night, his mother commanded him to come with her. She said "Stinge is gone, he is a traitor to us all. We can, we can still have your Tupsi," Kairo realised now, why Stinge was upset, he valued his life. Kairo didn't blame him, but he was happy, for once in his life, he was fine and safe, for now. His mother lead him to a room, the room his father laid ill. His mother handed him a pair of battle claws, and shed a single tear. Kairo took them and approached his father, who nodded, and closed his eyes. Kairo sunk the blade into his father's heart, and left the room as his mother cremated his father.
